Training

In addition to presenting regularly at regional and statewide conferences for early care childhood education professionals on a variety of health and safety topics, CCHP staff have developed training programs for health professionals to become Child Care Health Consultants and for early care and education providers to become Child Care Health Advocates.

These trainings are supported by two curricula developed by CCHP staff: Child Care Health Consultation in the Early Care and Education Setting and Child Care Health Advocacy in the Early Care and Education Setting. The information in these curricula was expanded and adapted from the curriculum of the National Training Institute for Child Care Health Consultants and the recommendations in Caring for our Children, National Health and Safety Performance Standards for Out-of-Home Child Care Settings, Edition 2, 2002. While the California Training Institute curricula are specific to California licensing regulations, the majority of the content can be generalized to other states.

The development of these curricula is supported by funding from First Five California (formerly the Children and Families Commission), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Maternal Child Health Bureau (Healthy Child Care America), and California Department of Education Child Development Division (Healthline).

For further information on these CCHP trainings, contact the CCHP office at (510) 204-0930.
